A platform like Akila simply cannot grow to its full potential without certain things. Among these: a network of the most innovative partners in the business and expert-level project management. Since joining Akila in May 2021, Pauline Ramet (Project Management Office Director) has taken a lead in accelerating Akila’s partnerships and Ecosystem, as overseeing project management for new clients.
We spoke to Pauline about her career at Akila, as well as managing fast-growing projects and building partnerships with the most innovative companies.
What attracted you to working with Akila?
I would definitely say that it was the challenge of joining an emerging company, working with a newly formed and still-growing team and focusing on a booming business. That was the base of my interest, and it also was very exciting to know we would be working together to develop a unique and ambitious solution within the digital twin market – something that applies digital twin to the whole built environment rather than just one vertical segment or type of application.
How would you compare the speed and volume of projects that are happening at Akila versus other companies you have worked for?
This is like joining a start-up – you need to be agile and quickly adapt to the clients’ needs, so this is very different from the big groups I worked for before (Freescale Semiconductors, NXP Semiconductors) where all the processes are already in place for years and well established. Since I joined last year, I have seen so many achievements related to Akila platform development. I am glad that I can bring my experience and background to Akila, in such an exciting moment of Akila’s development. And personally, I have learned a lot and I am still learning a lot from my peers, and from our leaders. In this context of a start-up with a big business ambition, I find it very rewarding to work with such a high-performing team, in all different fields (Finance, Legal, Marketing, R&D, etc…). And for me, it is really exciting to help drive multiple workstreams and activities in different fields.
I believe that working in a company, no matter its size, should always be like this, a journey to continually learn, improve and share, with others and with others.
You are instrumental in building our partnerships. Generally, what kind of companies does Akila like to partner with?
Yes, we are always looking for new partners – we are humble enough to know that Akila cannot and should not try to develop everything on its own. What we do is, we identify the best potential partners; key players in their respective domains, where we believe that joint cooperation and innovation could benefit all parties – for Akila, for them, and of course for our clients!
How do we go about validating and building these key partner relationships?
I have developed an onboarding process for our partners to join the Akila Ecosystem and enrich our solution offer. After a successful assessment is done on 2 dimensions (Business Model/Finance and Technical), we usually start by working on a common pilot project to validate the value proposition.
We have partners that are start-ups and big players. What matters to us is the added value brought to the Akila platform, the expertise of the partner, more than the size of the company itself.
One of Akila’s long-term goals is the development of a partner Ecosystem. Why is this so important for the platform’s future?
As I mentioned before, Akila builds the core part of the platform and comes with the vision and the solution for our clients. We have a challenging technological roadmap, and to be able to achieve it, we build a strong core technology and select the key partnerships that will enable Akila to reinforce its technological positioning and develop its clients’ portfolio.
How would you describe the experience of working for Akila?
I really like the Akila working environment, it is very exciting and challenging! Each day, there is a new opportunity to share, learn and make achievements. The ambitious roadmap and business plan, and the dedicated people working for Akila’s success are definitely a strong advantage to working for Akila!
