Seattle — [2025.11.06] — Akila joins BizzTech, both members of the NVIDIA Partner Network, tohave announced a joint project together, along with other tech partners supporting the City of Seattle’s Office of Sustainability and Environment (OSE) in advancing its net-zero and decarbonization goals. The collaboration will take place in the Brighton neighborhood of South Seattle, working alongside Brighton Communities, a local community housing organization leading an economic development project to mitigate against housing displacement together with the city’s Building Decarbonization initiative.
As part of Akila’s commitment to leveraging NVIDIA Blueprint for smart city AI, BizzTech serves as the real-time visualization and engagement layer to Akila’s semantic data model to form a unified, SimReady digital twin built on NVIDIA Omniverse technologies and with NVIDIA Metropolis and NVIDIA Cosmos for bringing physical AI to cities. This connected platform links building systems, utilities, cameras, IoT devices and other sensors with AI-driven insights — providing the foundation for safer, more efficient, and sustainable urban management.
Why it matters
Seattle has positioned itself as a leader in climate innovation through its Building Emissions Performance Standard (BEPS) and OSE’s ongoing Building Decarbonization Grant program, which is targeting a 27% reduction in citywide building emissions. By combining AI, simulation, and digital-twin infrastructure, Akila and BizzTech are supporting the city’s vision to transform its built environment into a network of responsive, data-driven communities that improve residents’ quality of life while accelerating the transition to clean energy. This creates a smooth runway for future deployment of AI agents that enhance safety, energy efficiency, and emissions performance in the city’s smart-neighborhood network.”
What’s new
- Smart-neighborhood intelligence: integration of visual and semantic digital twins to create a dynamic model of the Brighton community — linking building performance, environmental data, and safety systems.
- The next step in offering end-to-end city scale AI with NVIDIA Blueprint for Smart City AI by applying physical AI computers for simulation, AI model fine-tuning, and video-analytics AI agent deployments. Now with NVIDIA Metropolis and NVIDIA Blueprint for Video Search and Summarization (VSS) integration, Akila can support city deployments from real-time sensor data processing through decision making. Scalable foundation for physical AI: Establishing the groundwork for future deployments that extend from single buildings to districts and city-wide systems.
- Collaborative ecosystem: Partnership among Akila, BizzTech, OSE, and Brighton Communities — aligning public and private innovation toward net-zero outcomes.
Quotes
“Seattle’s commitment to sustainable, human-centered urban renewal aligns perfectly with our mission at Akila,” said Philippe Obry, Vice President of Akila. “Through our partnership with BizzTech, we’re demonstrating how the NVIDIA Blueprint for Smart City AI bridges the simulation gap by connecting digital twins to the data generated in buildings and operational processes – creating one responsive ecosystem. This project marks an important stepping stone toward Physical AI — from smart buildings to smart neighborhoods, and eventually, smart cities.”
“At BizzTech, we’re proud to lead Brighton’s journey toward greater sustainability and livability,” said Dirk Schmidt, CEO of BizzTech. “Our platform turns a thousand data points into one clear operating picture. Together with Akila and NVIDIA we’re helping Brighton cut carbon, improve safety, and raise quality of life.”
